Your telegram 14 May, I have represented to
Foreign Office at instance of May and Stubbs desirabilly of Eliot returning to University or being transferred permanently to Foreign Office in order that successor may be appointed. An informed by Foreign Office that they fully realise disability imposed on University by Eliot's absence but that in vier of present confused situation in Siberia and need for Eliot's continued presence at post as British High Commissioner, hope that the decision of the University regarding return of Eliot will be postponed for another six months at any rate, Please report your observations
